In the Bollywood musical HUMSE HAI MUQABALA, Ranjit Singh is an angry, overprotective father who attempts to separate his daughter from her new lover. He succeeds, but meets an untimely ending at the hands of one of his own henchmen, allowing the relationship to flourish once again.
Kadhalan was dubbed in Hindi as Humse Hai Muqabala. Kadhalan is a successful Tamil film released in 1994, written and directed by S. Shankar. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by A. R. Rahman. The film stars Prabhu Deva and Nagma in the lead roles.
