The Hollywood filmmaker has written, directed and produced many successful feature films, including Terminator, Titanic, and Aliens, which show what dreams are made of.
The Cameron Festival kicks off on 27th August with one of his most meticulously crafted 1989 deep-sea close-encounter epic with utterly gorgeous special effects – The Abyss! When a hurricane cuts off contact between the surface and the underwater depths, the crew begin to see evidence of a strange, possibly alien intelligence at work. Sigourney Weaver returns as Ellen Ripley, the last surviving crew member of a corporate spaceship destroyed after an attack by a vicious, virtually unbeatable alien life form. Adrift in space for half a century, Ripley grapples with depression until she's informed by her company's representative, that the planet where her crew discovered the alien has since been settled by colonists and recently the company lost contact with the colony. Invited along as an advisor in the investigation, Ripley predicts disaster, and sure enough, there is much bloodbath between the humans and aliens with an explosive showdown between the alien queen and Ripley to conclude this masterpiece.
On 10th September don’t miss Solaris the story of the troubled psychologist Chris Kevin. Implored by a colleague he takes on the project of investigating the weird going-ons at the Prometheus space station. On reaching there he finds his friend has committed suicide. As he begins investigating the skeletal crew he learns that they've had unwanted "visitors," apparitions of long-dead friends, family, and loved ones who are apparently being generated by the interstellar energy source Solaris.
