Sahara India Mass Communication (SIMCL), which spans the two passion areas of mass entertainment -- Motion Pictures and Television – has a new company name.

Shantonu Aditya, CEO, announced, “Our company now has a new name: Sahara One Media & Entertainment Limited. The new name unites all our businesses under the equity of our ‘One’ brand, which has become much stronger as a result of our strong performance in Motion Pictures and Television over the past six months.”

Sahara One Media & Entertainment Limited’s first initiative to expand the business is the upcoming launch of the Hindi movies channel, FILMY, which will be launched in January 2006.

As a professional and integrated media and entertainment company, Sahara One has taken significant strides in the areas of Motion Pictures and Television. Over the past year, Sahara One Motion Pictures – the biggest player in the business in India – released 12 films, of which 5 went on to become hits. These include the superhits No Entry, Sarkaar, Hanumaan, the triple National Award winning Page 3, and such critically acclaimed films as Phir Milenge and Yahaan.

On the Television front, Sahara One Television too has shown marked improvement in GRPs, ratings and ad revenues, and with a slew of new shows targeting the thinking young woman of modern India, is poised for better growth.
