One of the most popular and controversial books of our time, Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code which has been printed in more than 30 different languages and has been on the New York Times Bestseller’s List for more than 100 weeks, has almost become a must read for everyone. First published in March 2003, the fascination is still very strong and a movie based on the novel is due for release soon starring Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks as Professor Robert Langdon. Discovery Channel will reveal new information on the secrets and events that inspired the book in its premiere programme DA VINCI DECLASSIFIED.

DA VINCI DECLASSIFIED presents new facts, new information and a new look into this mind-boggling controversy that has captivated millions across the world. A one-hour programme, DA VINCI DECLASSIFIED will air on May 14, 2006 at 8 pm.

DA VINCI DECLASSFIED takes a fresh look at The Priory Of Sion. Is it real? If so, who’s behind it and what are its real goals? And whose destinies are they ultimately out to control? Discovery Channel will takes viewers on a journey through two thousand years of European history and art, going on location throughout Europe to unravel intricate clues about the Priory.

Drawing on the expertise of historians, art specialists, scientists, mathematicians and actual representatives of the novel’s other famous secret society, Opus Dei, DA VINCI DECLASSIFIED goes to ever more fascinating lengths to separate truth from fiction – from building an actual Cryptex (a device used in the book to hide and potentially destroy secret documents) to unraveling hidden messages allegedly encoded into famous works of art by Da Vinci and, possibly even more controversial, Jean Cocteau.
