Toonz Animation India, the animation studio located in Trivandrum, Kerala, has won four awards in the student-directed category at the prestigious Kalamazoo Animation Festival International or KAFI held on May 16 to 18, 2003 in Kalamazoo, southwest Michigan, USA.

The four films include 'Cute Bunny', written and directed by Manasa Rao, '123 Math Toon', written and directed by Akhilesh Anandh, 'The Flame Who Loved to Dance', written and directed by Ujwal Nair and 'Penguins to the Zoo', written and directed by Arun V.

The films, a result of the Childrenz Animation Workshop 2002, was organised by the studio during the summer vacations last year.

KAFI 2003, regarded as the only one of its kind in the mid-west of USA, attracted more students and professional animators as compared to 2002, which was the first year of the festival.

The event has now turned into a biennial celebration, to be organised in 2005 along with the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, which brings together world-famous performers for two weeks in May to downtown Kalamazoo.
