New Update

Turner Broadcasting-owned Cartoon Network has signed a programming agreement with Climb Media to acquire another locally produced animation series Chotta Birbal, making this the seventh local acquisition in a span of two years.

Chotta Birbal is a fictional take on a time when Mughal Emperor Akbar and his minister, friend and wisest counsel, Birbal were kids. The series showcases their fictional baby-sized adventures.

For the record, Climb Media is one of Indias oldest animation companies and was established in 1971. Among the more well-known productions from the company is the animated short film Ek Anek, and the now famous tiger mascot on SET MAX for the cricket World Cup 2003.

While Chota Birbal is set to debut on our small screens in some time, The Adventures of Tenali Raman will go on air on June 14 at 5:30 pm. The 13 half-hour episodes of the 2D animated show will be telecast on Saturdays and the repeats will be shown at 2.00 pm on Sundays. Produced by Trivandrum-based Toonz Animation Studios, The Adventures of Tenali Raman will be aired in both English and Hindi languages.

The interesting bit is that The Adventures of Tenali Raman will have its world premiere on the Network on the same day. The Adventures of Tenali Raman revolve around the adventures of the popular folklore character Tenali Raman, one of the eight wise men who adorned Vijaynagara's King Krishna Deva Raya II's court.
