Manish Agarwal, VP, marketing, Rediff.com said “ The new Rediffmail has features that seek to simplify and speed up the email experience for our users. This marks an important milestone in the evolution of web-based email service in India.
He added, "As the Indian Internet grows we shall continue to focus on providing world class products with strong local relevance and high utility value, across multiple devices, including PCs, mobiles, PDAs, etc. Growth in the number of PC owners and Internet subscribers is not just limited to the metros and A-class cities,
but is also being witnessed in smaller B & C class cities and towns across India. To Internet users in these smaller cities,
the use of their mother tongue in a communication service like email is important.”
The new Rediffmail leverages AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) technology and Rediff’s superior understanding of the
needs of both basic and evolved Internet users that is translated into desk-top and web mail features within the
re-engineered Rediffmail.
According to figures released by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), 98% of the 38.5 million Indian internet users access emails and there has been a whopping 54% growth in the user base to 25 million in 2005-06.
