Jetwings, the hugely successful inflight magazine of Jet Airways, published on its behalf by Spenta Multimedia, has just set a new benchmark for the civil aviation and publishing industry in India by being voted as one of the best inflight magazines by a 23-member international media panel.
Jetwings received this honour at the 18th Annual Avion Awards, which was held on September 15th 2006 by the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) at Miami Beach, Fl, USA.
The magazine was adjudged second runner-up in the inflight magazine category, with United Airlines the winner and KLM, the first runner-up.
Competing with the best amongst 42 leading passenger airlines, Jetwings was judged on several parameters, including "originality," "suitability," "production value," "content," and "balance."
Besides receiving an award for Jetwings, Jet Airways was also judged as offering the "Best Overall" Inflight Entertainment in the small fleet category.
Jet Airways submitted entries in all eight categories, and was selected as a finalist in four: “Best In-flight Magazine”, “Best Single In-flight Audio Program”, “Best Entertainment for Inseat Systems” (partial cabin) and “Best Overall In-flight Entertainment” for airline with a fleet of up to 24 aircraft.
The 23-member international judging panel included leading media executives, critics, producers, editors, and academics from Australia, Brazil, India, Italy, Singapore, Sweden, U.K., and U.S.A.
