Vineet Mahajan joins McCann Erickson as creative consultant

At McCann Erickson, Mahajan is handling Dabur, LG Electrons India, Bacardi, Perfetti and Teletec among other brands

Vineet Mahajan, who got Delhi its first Gold Lion from Cannes in 2003 (in fact, the first metal ever) for the Businessworld mailer, has joined McCann Erickson as creative consultant. He moves from Ogilvy & Mather after a four-year stint.

Mahajan says moving to McCann Erickson was an obvious decision. “McCann is one of the best places in Delhi to work with. And, the agency's single minded approach reflects in its work. Moreover, I was keen on moving on to a bigger role. So when opportunity came along, I moved. But I must say that my stint at O&M has been fantastic. I just loved it,” Mahajan says, while explaining his decision to move.

At McCann Erickson, Mahajan is handling Dabur, LG Electrons India, Bacardi, Perfetti and Teletec among other brands.

When asked about his future mandate, Mahajan, a little amused, says, “it's the same as any creative professional”. In specific terms, Mahajan explains, “The energy is just right at McCann. All one needs to do is converge those energies in the right direction. Basically, the idea is to brighten up the place.”

Mahajan has many award-winning creatives to his claim; prime among the recognitions received over the years is the work on the Businessworld mailer and the public service two-ad print campaign on Hutch called 'Blurb' that won two Bronze metals at Cannes in 2004.

On the Hutch-Blurb campaign, Mahajan collaborated with Radhika Singh, creative consultant, O&M. As for Businessworld, Mahajan worked Rahul Johri, now creative director, Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi.

Among the other felicitations are two One Shows nominations for Businessworld and the Hutch campaign.

In fact, the work on Hutch was featured in Communication Arts Advertising Annual and the Design Annual (a major advertising and graphic design competition) in 2004.

But the recognition dearest to Mahajan is the CAG Silver, won within three months of launching a career in advertising. This was in January 1999. And O&M was the agency Mahajan began his career with. After exactly one year and three months, Mahajan moved to McCann Erickson, but in a matter of seven months, went back to O&M, where he stayed on till January 2005. © 2005 agencyfaqs!
