RK Swamy/BBDO Hyderabad has bagged the creative duties for Mars chocolates. Media Direction is the AOR. Industry sources estimate the size of the business to be around Rs 8-10 crore.
Confirming this development to agencyfaqs!, Shalini Rao, marketing manager, Effem India (the wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based Mars Chocolates in India), says, “Globally, BBDO handles the creative duties for Mars chocolates. So as a logical move, the creative and media duties for the Indian market have been assigned to RK Swamy/BBDO.”
Mars has consolidated the presence of its flagship chocolate brands Mars, Twix, Snickers and Bounty by importing them through its wholly-owned subsidiary Effem India. Now it plans to beef-up its marketing strategies and also channelise the distribution network in India.
Mars already has a presence in the country’s pet food market, through brands such as Pedigree and Whiskers which are well-established in urban India. While Pedigree is handled by TBWA, Whiskers business is also with RK Swamy/BBDO.
Initially the company will only start with the print and outdoor campaigns on Mars Snickers. © 2005 agencyfaqs!
