Saatchi & Saatchi, Bangalore, wins creative duties for Wonderla Holidays

The size of the business is pegged at Rs 1.5 crore

Wonderla Holidays, the amusement park from the house of V-Guard Industries, has awarded its creative duties to Saatchi & Saatchi, Bangalore. The size of the business is pegged at Rs 1.5 crore.

Apart from Saatchi & Saatchi, four agencies, Jelitta, Stark, Disha Communications and Bread, Butter and Jam, took part in the pitch held in June.

Confirming this development to agencyfaqs!, Arun Chittilappilly, executive director, Wonderla Holidays, says, “Saatchi & Saatchi presented its creatives in a simple and sophisticated format. What we also appreciated was the agency’s understanding of the local flavour.”

“When one thinks of amusement parks, one immediately thinks of rides and the screams emanating from the people enjoying the rides. That is what we wanted to portray and Saatchi & Saatchi was able to do exactly that,” he adds.

Incidentally, this is the first business Saatchi & Saatchi, Bangalore, has won under the flagship of its executive vice-president, Anand Narasimha, who moved from Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi, to head the Bangalore branch a month ago.

As Narasimha puts it, “Wonderla Holidays is an amusement park where one gets the opportunity to unwind from one’s daily routine. We plan to position the park as a place where one can return to one’s childhood. Our whole campaign revolves around the idea of ‘screaming’, which symbolises freedom and spontaneity. We are going to use local techniques to get the message across with the help of various on-ground activities.”

Wonderla Holidays, which will be launched end of this month, is V-Guard Industries’ second amusement park. Established in 1977, V-Guard is now a dynamic corporate entity with a diversified product line that ranges from stabilisers, UPS systems, water pumps and electronic motor starters to water heaters, water purifiers and amusement parks. Apart from Saatchi & Saatchi, Maitree and Media Mate are the two agencies that are currently handling various operations for V-Guard.
