Uday Parker makes it to the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, 2007

On the tenth anniversary of the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival in 2007, Parker will contribute an art piece interpreting the theme ‘Ten’

On behalf of the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, commonly known as the AdFest, Uday Parker, national creative director, Adfactors Advertising, is the only one from India who has been selected from Asia’s ten creative guns to contribute a painting or an artwork interpreting the theme of ‘Ten’ on the tenth anniversary of the festival in 2007.

The AdFest will be held in Chang Mai, Thailand, where it was first inaugurated ten years ago in 1997. It will be a three-day event with close to 5,000 award entries. It will see plenty of delegates from the advertising, production and marketing fields within and outside the Asia Pacific region.

Prasoon Joshi, regional creative director, South & South East Asia, McCann-Erickson, when contacted by Jimmy Lam, AdFest sub-committee chairman for speakers and judges, reportedly recommended Parker for this prestigious assignment. Joshi has been a supporter of the AdFest and a previous speaker and chairman of the jury.

Parker is thrilled about the assignment and has already come up with an idea and started work on his creation. Remarking on the honour, he says, “Prasoon (Joshi) had called me a week ago and I consider it a privilege and prestige to accept this assignment. Painting has always been my passion and it helps me take my mind off my daily routine. The greatest part is that this assignment will be a creative expression for which there is no judge, no scrutiny, no gold, silver or bronze, just satisfaction.”

The selected artists are supposed to create one painting or artwork by October 2006, with minimum dimensions of 1 metre by 1 metre, in a conventional or digital format. The created art piece will then be published in print or electronically and exhibited during the AdFest.
