David, Delhi, gets new branch head

Mandeep Malhotra, head of Wall Street David, has been elevated as branch head of David, Delhi. He fills the void created by Venugopal's exit

David has found a new person to head the agency's Delhi branch. Venugopal Chandrasekhar had left a void at the agency when he quit as branch head of David, Delhi, at the beginning of the year. Mandeep Malhotra, head of Wall Street David (David's out of home division) has been elevated as the branch head of David, Delhi. He will report to Josy Paul, chairman and regional creative director; and Kumar Subramaniam, president, David.

Wall Street is an outdoor and activation arm of David and Malhotra has been heading the division in Delhi since he set it up in 2004. Says Subramaniam, president, David, "He has helped set up Wall Street in Delhi from scratch. He has done a great job of building a young and spirited team in Delhi. This is recognition of the fact that he has done a great job. We expect him to create a similar charged-up atmosphere in the advertising agency as well."

Adds Paul, "Mandeep is truly a motivational leader. The most fantastic thing about him is his ability to motivate people and see the opportunity for clients as well for himself. This speaks volumes for the character of David as an agency."

Malhotra started working in 1996 at Nirula's in-house advertising agency. Soon after, he left for Melbourne to pursue a post-graduate course in advertising. He worked for Total Media in Melbourne before he returned to India to work for 'Asian Age' as a marketing executive. Prior to joining David, Malhotra spent two years at OAP (an outdoor agency and a division of Rediffusion DY&R) and headed its Hyderabad branch.

About his elevation, Malhotra says, "My work at Wall Street involved much innovation and helped me display my out-of-the-box skills. I want all Goliaths to be aware that David is around!"
