Mukund Sharma appointed creative head, Rediff Bangalore

Sharma has worked earlier at JWT and O&M, both in Bangalore

Rediff Bangalore has strengthened its creative team by bringing Mukund Sharma on board. Sharma, who moves from O&M Bangalore, will head the creative function at the Bangalore branch. He replaces Montu Bassi, who vacated the post some months ago.

Minakshi Achan, executive vice-president and executive creative director, says, “Sharma is extremely talented and I am delighted to have him on board as creative head. He is one of the finest writers I know and I am looking forward to seeing him work his magic on the agency’s brands.”

Sharma has always been based in Bangalore. He began his career in advertising with a couple of local agencies. He joined JWT Bangalore in 1997 as copywriter and stayed there for nine years, stepping down as creative director. In 2007, he joined O&M Bangalore as associate creative director.

During his stints with JWT and O&M, he has worked on brands such as Foster’s, IBM, Levi’s, Kingfisher, Van Heusen, i-Flex solutions, Wipro, Standard Chartered and Taj Mahal. His work for 150 years of Levi’s (a print campaign) fetched him a gold for copywriting at the London International Awards.

Sharma says, “Rediffusion is one of the hottest places to be in right now and I see a big opportunity. There is loads of young talent and energy here to make my job easier.”

Sharma will partner Arun Kumar, who heads the art function at Rediff Bangalore. The accounts that he will look at include ING Vysya Life Insurance, Rain Spring Water, Romanov Vodka, Poison Vodka and Bagpiper Whisky of the United Breweries Group, Airtel and Xylys.
