NEW DELHI

After a highly successful run in Mumbai and Bangalore, JobsAhead.com, one of India's leading career management portal, has brought "Fast Trak", India's first ever career fair, to Delhi. The Delhi edition of the Fast Trak initiative kicked off on June 23. Over 40 top corporates involved in diverse businesses ranging from IT, telecom, software to alternative careers like Internet marketing and remote access services are participating in the two-day career fair.

Announcing the launch of "Fast Trak Delhi", Puneet Dalmia, CEO, JobsAhead.com said, "The perennial shortage of workforce in the knowledge based industries make headhunting a daunting task. And since, Internet penetration in the country is extremely low; city specific initiatives like "Fast Trak Delhi" assist in adding value both to the individual job seekers as well as to the corporates."

All that the jobseeker has to do to avail of the full benefits of the Fast Trak program is to go to the JobsAhead site and post his or her resume. The submitted resumes would be matched offline with the requirements of the corporates coming to the fair. On getting a match, the candidates would be informed about a possible meeting with the prospective employer and the timing of their interview will be intimated via email. After receiving confirmation from the candidate, the interview would be scheduled during the course of the fair itself.

Alok Mittal, COO, JobsAhead.com says that the portal is planning to take the job fair to other cities as well. "In fact, we want to make a movement out of Fast Trak so much so that companies incorporate Fast Trak in their yearly recruitment calendar," he added. Obviously, his confidence stems from the successful run of the two earlier fairs.

Fast Trak Bangalore, which was held in the first week of this month, proved to be a big talent scouting ground for corporates like IBM and Hughes software, with companies like Wipro, Novell, Silicon Automation, Netcraft, BPL, Subex systems, Trisgent software trooping in to check out the talents on offer.

In all, about 1,200 plus interviews were organized for 25 corporates. IBM gave offer letters to 20 candidates; Hughes Software on the other hand was delighted to hunt down 15 potential employees from the fair.

The Mumbai chapter was equally successful. Held during the second week of this month, (June 9 and 10), it attracted more than 7,000 candidates. Around, 3,000 plus interviews were organised for 50 corporates, including companies like Standard Chartered Bank, SBI Capital, Chrysalis Capital, i2technologies, besides dotcom upstarts like Indya.com, Sawaal.com, Cheekoo.com, Vindia.com.

Hughes Software, in the period of two days, gave offers to about six professionals - including one to a project manager who was lapped up with salary package exceeding Rs 8 lakh per annum. Topping the list of offers was Syntel, which made 30 offers.
