They say that the winner takes it all and so it was at 'The Sansui Television Awards 2008' which announced their winners in a grand ceremony held yesterday at the Andheri Sports Complex. A galaxy of stars from Bollywood and Indian television industry walked the red carpet for this Indian Oscars of television. The awards presented by Sansui and organised by Cineyug Worldwide will be telecast on Zee TV.
Mr. Anil Khera, Director - Sansui India said, the battles were close in practically every category, but at the end, when the dust settled and winners were declared, the new shining stars emerged. In the Popular Category which was judged by a Public polling, these votes were received via Website, sms and newspaper cuttings, KPMG the world renowned auditing firm accounted the same. The public chose their heroes and Ram Kapoor was declared Best Actor for his role in Kasamh Se and Prachi Desai was chosen as Best Actress for her role in Kasamh Se.
The eminent jury featuring renowned names from the television and media industry like Ramesh Taurani, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Sonali Bendre, Nitin Desai, Rati Agnihotri, Poonam Dhilon, Pahlaj Nihalani and Ganesh Jain also announced their decisions and the winners for the other categories- The News Channel Awards, Technical Awards and Jury Awards.
Jeetendra Kapoor was given the 'Lifetime achievement award'
Not to forget, the performances at Sansui Television awards were absolutely mind-blowing. The night was filled with excitement as Rohit Roy mesmerized audiences with his opening act and danced on the current hottest tracks-Mauja Hi Mauja, Soni De Nakhre and Nagada.
The most gorgeous television stars took the audience back into history with their timeless performance- Ronit Roy and Roshni Chopra as Jodha Akbar, Hussain and Tina Kuvajerwala as Salim and Anarkali.
With her ace performance, Rakhi Sawant set the stage on fire with Abhishek Awasthi as they grooved to the latest Krazzy 4 song 'Dekhta Hai Tu Kya'.
No TV Awards night can be complete without a saas-bahu act. Nimisha, Suchita, Kadambari, Rita, Sarita kept audiences enthralled and entertained in a beautifully choreographed antakshari. Juhi Parmar stormed at the end with her breathtaking 'Allah Duhai Hai' number from Race.
Topping everything was the high-voltage performance by mega stars Viveik Oberoi and Dia Mirza. The heart-throb Viveik Oberoi charmed audiences as well as leading ladies of television, Divyanka Tripathi, Jaswinder Kaur, Sayantani Ghosh and Mansi Verma. Dia Mirza left everyone stunned with her Indo-Western performance as she burnt the dance floor with amazing grace and style, leaving everyone longing for more!
The Sansui Television Awards 2008 were presented in a star-studded ceremony attended by Jeetendra Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Dimple Kapadia, Sonali Bendre, Shaan, Ravi Kishen, Chunky Pandey, Rajpal Yadav and a host of Television personalities.
