Biswas will be responsible for the branding and promotion of the search engine
Guruji.com, the Indian search engine, has appointed Soma Biswas vice-president for marketing.
Speaking about her mandate at the company, Biswas says, “It’s essentially going to be customer acquisition, which will be aimed at acquiring users and retaining them. We want to establish that we are India’s first search engine and I will take care of the branding and promotion activities for Guruji.com.”
Biswas has worked for five years with iVillage.com, a UK based online resource for women on issues such as parenting and home-making. She has also worked with Yahoo!, AT&T and Tickle.
Guruji.com was founded in October 2006 by Anurag Dod and Gaurav Mishra, two IIT Delhi graduates, and backed by Sequoia Capital.
