Prakash Sangam joins Naukri.com group as vice-president

Sangam will look after Shiksha.com, the education portal of the Naukri.com group and also handle the ad sales and mobility of all the online properties of the group

Prakash Sangam has joined the Naukri.com group as vice-president. He will report to Hitesh Oberoi, chief operating officer, Info Edge Ltd, the parent company of the Naukri.com group of portals.

Sangam was earlier general manager, marketing and innovation, at Bharti Airtel. At the Naukri.com group, he replaces Kumar Apoorv, who is now chief operating officer at ValueFirst, a provider of enterprise mobility solutions.

Speaking to afaqs!, Sangam says, “I will head the education portal, Shiksha.com, of the Naukri.com group. I will also be responsible for ad sales and the mobility part of all the properties of the group, such as Naukri.com, JeevanSathi.com (a matrimonial site), 99acres.com (a real estate portal) and Shiksha.com.”

Sangam has about nine years of experience in sales and marketing. He started his career with Atlas Copco, which manufactures industrial goods. After working with Atlas Copco for about eight months, he went to the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.

Once he had obtained his MBA, he joined Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) in 2000 as area sales manager. He left the company as regional marketing manager in 2007. At HUL, he managed brands such as Surf, Wheel, Lux, Vim and Domex.

In August 2007, Sangam joined Bharti Airtel as general manager, marketing and innovation. He was responsible for mobile advertising for Airtel and the development of new products for rural markets.
