The site is positioned as a curator of positive news.
Media specialists Sorbojeet Chatterjee and Pradyuman Maheshwari have launched an alternative news site called Happ Post, which is being positioned as a curator of positive news.
He has cross-functional and cross-platform leadership experience across consumer facing media brands such as Aaj Tak, DNA and Neo Sports.
Maheshwari is a senior journalist. He has worked with renowned publications such as The Indian Express, DNA, Mid-Day and Dainik Bhaskar.
As per the United Nations, India ranks 117 on the Global Happiness Index. Many countries including China, Iraq and Pakistan are ahead of India. The founders of Happ Post believe that there is a clear need-gap for a positive news product that provides a viable alternative to sensational headlines and screaming news anchors.
Happ Post is available as a native app for iOS and Android devices, as well as a web offering on happpost.com.
Commenting on the development, Chatterjee, who is co-founder and CEO, says, "Disruption and innovation have been the cornerstones of the entire start-up movement. However, there have been very few game-changers in the content space. Happ Post is disruptive, relevant and above all, an idea whose time has come."
Maheshwari, who is co-founder and chief content officer, adds, "There is clearly an unarticulated need amongst evolved news consumers for positive content and Happ Post will not just focus on special feature stories, but more importantly, look at daily news with a 'sunshine' lens. Curated news is the first launch under the 'Happ' umbrella, and the ambition is to create specific product lines and services that are true to the ethos of being a harbinger of happiness."
