Brands taking Rahul Bose's 'banana story' forward

We have already spotted Amazon, Zomato, among others, taking sarcastic digs at Marriott.

We have seen and discussed enough of moment marketing and, therefore, the increasing threads of banana creatives by brands on social media over the past 48 hours don't really seem to surprise us.

But, let's just do a quick flashback of how and where it all started. Shall we?

The actor (Rahul Bose), who was staying at JW Marriott Chandigarh, ordered two bananas post his workout session at the hotel's gym. All was well till then. However, it soon took a not-so-pleasant turn, thanks to a pair of humble bananas (yes, you read that right!).

What the ‘Chameli’ actor didn't see coming his way was a bill of Rs 442.50 (including GST) which made him go bananas and rightfully so!

He immediately took to Twitter and posted a 38-second video to document his experience.

His rant, with a smart dollop of tongue-in-cheek humour (read #goingbananas #howtogetfitandgobroke and #potassiumforkings), triggered a chain of reactions from tweeples.

Moments after his bananas story went viral, twitterites began sharing their own 'Rahul Bose moments' - their experiences of being fleeced for a product or service.

And, not surprisingly, brands across categories have also seized the 'banana moment' to gain momentum. Well, 'see it to believe it'.
