STAR Movies renews multi-year agreement with Buena Vista

The agreement will provide STAR with the telecast rights of movies such as The Village, Princess Diaries 2 and Cold Mountain

STAR Movies has renewed its multi-year agreement with Buena Vista International Television Asia Pacific. This development was jointly announced by Steve Macallister, vice president and general manager, Buena Vista International Television - Asia Pacific and Steve Askew, chief operating officer, STAR.

Buena Vista International Television - Asia Pacific is the distribution arm of Walt Disney Television International - Asia Pacific, which is responsible for the licensing of The Walt Disney Company's branded and non-branded programs across the region.

With this agreement, STAR Movies patrons across Asia will continue to watch the latest international blockbuster releases from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, and Miramax Films. Some of the attractive titles include ‘Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement', ‘The Village', ‘Starsky and Hutch', and ‘Cold Mountain'.

Macallister says, "For a record tenth year in a row, our movies have grossed over $1 billion at the international box office and now these movies will add to the portfolio of STAR Movies."

Commenting on the benefits of the deal, Steve Askew, chief operating officer, STAR says, "Disney's blockbusters have a renowned mass appeal to movie lovers, and with the renewal of partnership will help us in delivering premium content to viewers across Asia and further drive viewers to the channel."

STAR Movies reaches out to over 32 million homes across Asia, with a popular mix of movies including action, drama, comedy, romance, thrillers, and children's entertainment.
