This will be the first national Hindi daily from Himachal Pradesh
‘Dainik Jagran’, the national Hindi daily, will launch its Dharamshala edition on October 24. This will be the 28th edition of ‘Dainik Jagran’. It will also be the first national Hindi daily to be printed and published from Himachal Pradesh.
Commenting on the venture, Sanjay Gupta, CEO and editor, ‘Dainik Jagran’, says, “We will have the advantage of reaching out to our readers with detailed and updated news, unlike other newspapers, as we are the only Hindi daily to be published from Dharamshala.”
He adds, “Before launching the edition, we had set up our own inter-functional task force, which included one member each from the editorial, brand and circulation departments. This team has tried to understand the need gap and the aspirations of the people of Himachal Pradesh. We now hope to deliver a newspaper that understands and addresses these needs and aspirations.”
Currently, the newspaper’s Jalandhar edition is distributed in Himachal Pradesh. With the launch of the Dharamshala edition, ‘Dainik Jagran’ will be published from 10 states in North India. The Dharamshala edition of the ‘Dainik Jagran’ will cover seven of the 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh – Kangra, Kullu, Chamba, Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Una.
The edition will have 20 pages in the main edition and a four-page city supplement, ‘Jagran City’, which will cater to seven sub-editions – Dharamshala, Kangra, Una, Chamba, Mandi, Bilaspur and Kullu.
The main edition will have news and articles on national and international issues, the economy, social issues, sports and news of neighbouring states. The city supplement will cover city or local news, art and culture, general entertainment information and local issues and problems.
The Dharamshala edition will begin with a print run of 50,000 copies and the cover price will be preset according to industry trends. ‘Dainik Jagran’ will use multimedia campaigns to promote the edition. The promotional campaign will be launched in multiple phases – pre-launch, launch and post-launch.
