Rakhi Ka Swayamvar is the eighth most watched programme, as per TAM
As per the TAM data for Week 27, the general entertainment genre has grown by 143 GRPs. Colors has added 57 GRPs from Week 26 and has 300 GRPs. That makes it the No. 1 GEC, with a relative channel share of 23 per cent in Week 27. Last week, Colors and Zee were at par with 243 GRPs.
Colors' new launch, India's Got Talent, recorded a highest TVR of 2.9. Three of the movies shown on Colors earned 27 GRPs. Golmaal Returns recorded a TVR of 1.7; Chandni Chowk to China garnered 2.1; while Welcome fetched a highest TVR of 1.7.
In Week 27, Zee has garnered 253 GRPs, 14 more than STAR Plus. The channel shares for Zee and STAR Plus are 20 and 19 per cent, respectively. Moreover, four of Zee's shows have made it to the Top 10 list.
NDTV Imagine has witnessed a rise in GRPs in Week 27, thanks to its reality show, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. The show debuted with a TVR of 4.1, the highest ever for the channel since its launch.
Imagine has claimed 10 per cent share of the GEC pie this week, consolidating its No. 4 position. Sony, too, has increased its GRPs to 108 and holds 8 per cent channel share. SAB follows at No. 6, along with STAR One, both with 5 per cent share.
DD1 has 3 per cent share, followed by Sahara One with 2 per cent. STAR Utsav and 9X, too, have grabbed a relative share of 2 per cent each. Real has managed to hold on to its 1 per cent share.
The overall viewership of GECs in Week 27 has increased. Mona Jain, head, strategic investments, India Media Exchange, believes this is because the cricket audiences are back. "There is usually a 25-30 percent decline in GEC viewing, on days of cricket matches during primetime," she says.
T Gangadhar, managing director, mediaedge:cia, India, agrees. "There was so much of cricket on primetime from April 18 till the third week of June. Now that it's over, the viewers are back to the GECs," he says.
Jain also attributes the increase to the launch of compelling and fresh content on channels towards the end of June.
On the list of Top 10 most watched programmes, the top rated show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has increased its TVR to 6.6. At No. 2, Balika Vadhu has also recorded a rise in TVR from 5.5 to 6. Uttaran on Colors jumped two places to reach No. 3, with a TVR of 5.1.
Bidaai is at No. 4, followed by Saregamapa Li'l Champs 09. The TVRs recorded by the two are 4.6 and 4.4, respectively. The other programmes in the list are: Na Aana Is Des Laado, Chhoti Bahu, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo and Pavitra Rishta.
