Lloyd Mathias has joined Hewlett-Packard India as chief marketing officer (CMO).

In his new role, Mathias will be based in Gurgaon and will look after the marketing communications of the company.

afaqs! has gathered that at HP, Mathias will report to Ivy Liang, marketing head, Asia Pacific and Japan.

He has replaced Ranjivjit Singh (chief marketing officer, Personal Systems Group (PSG), HP India), who recently quit the company to join Samsung as senior vice-president - corporate marketing and CMO. Singh, in turn, replaced Rahul Saighal who moved on from Samsung India in February 2014, to set up an internet technology marketing company, NETIMPACT.

At Samsung, Singh is reporting to B D Park, president and CEO of Samsung South West Asia Operations and managing director, Samsung India Electronics.

For the record, Mathias is a senior marketing/general management professional with 24 years' experience. He has worked across telecom and consumer goods sectors across India and South Asia.

Mathias began his career with Onida in the 1990s in the sales and marketing function. He went on to join United Spirits (then the UB Group). His longest stint was with PepsiCo, again in the sales and marketing function. He was in charge of the non-cola brands of PepsiCo, which included 7Up, Mirinda, Slice, Mountain Dew and the bottled mineral water, Aquafina. He quit Pepsi as head of flavours.

After PepsiCo, Mathias joined Motorola as senior director, head of sales and operations, India and SW Asia; and marketing director.

He co-chaired the Device Strategy Council at CDMA Development Group and chaired Media Research Users Council (MRUC) before joining Tata Teleservices as president and CMP in December, 2008.

In April 2012, he founded GreenBean Ventures, a management consultancy committed to driving growth through a combination of innovative strategy and results-oriented execution.
