Durga Raghunath steps down as CEO Digital at The Indian Express Group
Raghunath will join Zomato as senior VP – Growth.
Durga Raghunath, CEO - Indian Express Digital Media Services, has quit to join Zomato as senior vice president - Growth, effective December 21, 2018.
Highly placed sources close to the development have confirmed the news to afaqs!.
In her new role, Durga will be responsible for managing new businesses such as Zomato's upcoming food events vertical and SneakPeek - Zomato's recent foray in video content. She will also be spearheading Ad innovations for Zomato and further help monetisation of the food app.

With over 17 years of experience, Raghunath joined Indian Express in December 2017. As CEO, she was responsible for managing business and editorial operations of all digital brands of the Express Group.
Raghunath, who was co-founder and CEO, Juggernaut Books and CEO Network18 Digital, was reporting to George Varghese, CEO, The Indian Express Group. Previously she worked at Zomato as senior vice president.
Commenting on Raghunath’s appointment, Deepinder Goyal, founder and CEO, Zomato, says in a media statement, "I am excited to have Durga (Raghunath) back with us, to help Zomato accelerate its growth trajectory for years to come."
Speaking about her new role Raghunath says, "I have always been impressed by the way Zomato delivers true product value by getting the details right. Raghunath was the founder-CEO of Firstpost. She also served as the CEO of Network 18 digital where she oversaw Moneycontrol, IBNLive, News18, Firstpost, Burrp!, In.com and regional media products. She began her career in book publishing in India and with HarperCollins in New York.
Raghunath (40) has an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and a Publishing Degree from Columbia University in New York City. She studied Media at Sophia Polytechnic in Mumbai and majored in Chemistry at Stella Maris College, Chennai.
