Media Brief

National, August 03, 2017

On the occasion of India’s 71st Independence Day, ABP News is coming out with a special series – ‘SAARE JAHAN SE ACCHA’ leading up to the Independence Day celebrations. What sets this series apart is that while it not only looks back extensively at India’s 70 years of Independence, but it also looks ahead, at what all we can and need to achieve in the next 5 years, as India gears up for 75 years as an independent nation.

As part of the series, ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’ will look at multiple facets of India’s journey from before Independence till today – focusing on the individuals, ideals and achievements which drove Indians to fight for their freedom and how these same ideals and the legacy of those individuals and achievements are faring today.

The series will start off by revisiting 10 historical sites which were flashpoints in India’s independence struggle from 1857 to 1947. Building on the theme of 70 years of independence, the show will then focus on the 70 biggest achievers of India who have contributed to India’s development since independence. Apart from the achievers, the show will also feature, in exhaustive detail, the 10 biggest achievements of India as an independent nation.

‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’ will also be taking up Mahatma Gandhi – the Father of the Nation – as a theme, with extensive reportage on the man and his ideals, specifically 5 of them – Cleanliness, Cow Protection, Communal Violence, Caste Violence & Agriculture Conditions – and how relevant or irrelevant they have become in today’s day and age.

But the show, just like the country, is also with its lighter moments. Looking back on the changes that have happened on all fronts – social, economic, political and technology – will be one of India’s foremost comic artists, ‘Raju Srivastava’. And taking further the light heartedness will be the segment ‘It happens only in India’ – a tongue in cheek look at few things, customs, traditions and habits that can be found only in India.

‘Saare Jahan Se Accha” is not just about looking back but also about looking and thinking ahead. And hence the focus on ‘AGENDA 2022’ – an in-depth and exhaustive perspective on the things that India couldn’t achieve in the last 70 years and what it needs to achieve as a successful nation in 75 years of independence, providing a roadmap of the burning issues that we need to address as a nation in the next 5 years.

‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’ will be broadcast daily on ABP News from Monday to Friday as part of Jan Man, 9 pm onwards, till 15th August 2017.
