AK&I wins Central VAT business

The size of the account is Rs 5 crore for the first three months

The Empowered Committee on VAT has awarded AK&I the advertising duties for Central VAT.

AK&I is a sister concern of IB&W.

AK&I's Anoop Dass said, “The size of the account is Rs 5 crore for the first three months. We would be initially handling the account for three months. Following this, our performance will be evaluated by the committee. We are certainly looking forward to an extension.”

Focus is the incumbent agency for this account.

AK&I, Dass added, will be coming up with TV, radio and press campaigns. “This will be one tough task as these campaigns will need to be approved by the 21 commissioners appointed by the respective states that are signatories to VAT,” he explained.

“We are handling the Delhi VAT business. After seeing our presentation and strategy, the empowered committee decided to award the Central VAT business to us,” said Dass.

The first round of presentations, strategy and creative-led, happened around two months back. The agencies, according to Dass, that had participated included Lowe, Crayons, O&M, AK&I and Triton.

Value Added Tax (VAT), introduced to replace sales tax imposed by individual states, is a general consumption tax assessed on the value added to goods and services. It is a general tax that applies, in principle, to all commercial activities involving the production and distribution of goods and the provision of services.
