Roy has joined as the executive director, Triton Delhi, the position vacated by Vivek Srivastava, who moved to Innocean last year
Joy Roy is a new name in the Triton Delhi team. Roy who has moved in from Interface Communications takes over as executive director, Triton Delhi – the position vacated by Vivek Srivastava. Last year, Srivastava quit Triton to join Hyundai’s ad agency, Innocean.
Joy, who was general manager with Interface, is ready for his second stint at Triton. He headed Triton’s South India operations between 2000 and 2004 when he was given the task of reviving the agency in the southern region.
In his earlier stint, Roy was instrumental in bagging businesses such as Godrej Storage Solutions, Samsung regional business, Indian Consumer Exhibition (ICE) and a few regional retail and technology clients.
Roy says, “Coming back to Triton is like coming back home, and I should say that I share a special comfort level with people at Triton.”
“This time, the challenge is much greater for me, as the foundation for Triton, Delhi, has already been made strong by Vivek Srivastava,” he explains. “I now have to pick up from where he left off, and propel Triton forward.”
Roy reveals that Triton, Delhi will focus on improving its BTL offering, as well as take aggressive steps for its set of public sector clients, apart from new business acquisitions. “But since I’m still settling in, our strategy hasn’t been fully mapped out yet. I will be in a position to give further details only later,” Roy remarks.
Roy started his career with FCB Ulka in 1990, in the client servicing department. He moved on two years later to join Contract, where he worked on brands such as Usha, Aristocrat, ACP whiskey, and the launch of Hyrum Walker in India.
After Contract, Roy moved on to join McCann Erickson Hong Kong and Taiwan, where he was an account planner for Colgate-Palmolive. In 2000, Roy came back to India and took charge of Triton’s south operations (Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad).
After a four year spell in the south, Roy moved on to join Interface in 2004, and had been working there since.
