Rediffusion DY&R, Bangalore, sweeps Big Bang Awards 2007

Rediffusion DY&R, Bangalore, picked up most of the awards at the Big Bang Awards 2007 presented by The Advertising Club, Bangalore

Amidst a lively beating of drums, Rediffusion DY&R, Bangalore, became Agency of the Year at the Big Bang Awards 2007 presented by The Advertising Club, Bangalore, in the city on Friday. The agency picked up 39 awards in all, mostly for its campaigns for Airtel. No, surprise then that Airtel won the Client of the Year award. Mindshare picked up the title, Media Agency of the Year.

The Rediffusion DY&R team present at the ceremony cheered roundly as the agency swept most of the awards, including all the awards in the Multimedia (Interactive) and Best Radio Spot (English) categories. When the final award was presented, the team came on stage in T-shirts that spelt out, “Oops! We did it again.” Anto Noval of Rediffusion DY&R was Copywriter of the Year, while Samson Samuel won the Art Director of the Year title. The Most Promising Newcomer of the Year award went to Sandeep Kumar of, again, Rediffusion DY&R. The silver trophies in this category also went to Akshay Shetty T and Vishal Vinekar of the same agency.

The award for Best Continuing Campaign went to Mudra Communications for its three-year campaign for Vishwanath Pillai and Sons.

The Advertising Club, Bangalore, also presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to a visibly overwhelmed RK Sheshadri of Vishesh Advertising, who has been in the advertising industry for 50 years.

All the awards for AV (Original Footage) went to Impact Films. The awards for TVCs were dominated by Nirvana Films. The production house won all the awards in the TVC categories of Durables, Non-Durables and Services, except for a gold in the TVC Services category, which was won by TBWA/India for Seventymm. Nirvana Films was also chosen the Film Production House of the Year.

In the Press Campaign (English) Durable category, the gold was shared by TBWA/India for Ingram Micro and Rediffusion DY&R for Eveready Flashlights. In the Non-Durable category, Rediffusion picked up a gold, again for its campaign for New Balance. In the Services category, Contract Advertising picked up the gold for Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd.

The gold for Online Advertising was shared by Rediffusion DY&R for EarthTree and Mindshare for Nike. The gold for the Best Website Design went to White Canvas for the Hippocampus website.

This year, the Advertising Club, Bangalore, received about 600 entries in 15 categories from 27 agencies and 10 clients. The judges for the Big Bang Awards 2007 included Dan Ginsberg, founder chairman, Draft Worldwide; Harish Bijoor, founder, Harish Bijoor Consultants; S Ghosh, COO, Saatchi & Saatchi; and Alok Arora, marketing head, Sanyo BPL.

The awards were presented in association with ‘Bangalore Mirror’, and co-sponsored by Big FM, Zee Kannada, UFO Moviez, Visage Images and agencyfaqs!

Initiated for the Bangalore ad fraternity in 1987, the Big Bang Awards are now a national awards ceremony recognising creativity in all forms of advertising.
