Partho Sengupta quits as CD, Rediffusion DY&R

Sengupta, who joined Rediffusion in 2006, joined the Airtel team just three months ago

Partho Sengupta, creative director, Rediffusion DY&R, has put in his papers. Sengupta was brought in to look after the creative work on non-Airtel brands in September 2006. Three months ago, he joined the Airtel team.

The news of his exit was confirmed by Sengupta himself, but he refused to say why he was leaving. He says working at the agency was an experience for him. He is still working out his next move and says his next destination remains undecided.

Sengupta began his career in advertising 13-14 years ago with Lowe (then Lintas) in Kolkata. After three years or so, he moved to Bates David Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus) Delhi as a creative consultant. Later, he joined Mudra Communications Delhi as senior art director; he was at Mudra for three years.

He has also done short stints at the Delhi branches of Saatchi & Saatchi and Euro RSCG. After that, he moved to Cheil Communications as creative director and stayed there for two years. This was followed by a short stint in the same capacity at Dentsu Marcom Delhi. Rediff happened after Dentsu.

At Rediff, before joining the Airtel team, Sengupta was working on brands such as Xerox, General Motors and Bacardi. He was instrumental in launching the first commercial for Amway along with Ajay Gahlaut, an ex-Rediff hand who now heads the creative function at O&M Delhi.

Sengupta has also worked on brands such as Samsung, Sony TV and Handycams, McDonald’s, Maruti, Mitsubishi Lancer, Hyundai Santro Xing, Elantra and Sonata, HBO and DT Cinemas. The SBI credit cards campaign is among his notable work.
