BlaBlaCar picks Chase India for Public Affairs mandate

Company Brief

Mumbai, February 26, 2015

BlaBlaCar has appointed Chase India, the public policy and government affairs division of Avian Media for a government affairs brief as it launches its service in India.

BlaBlaCar connects people looking for a city-to-city travel solution with car-owners going in the same direction, so that they can travel together and share the cost of their journey. The service allows users to choose co-travellers in a member community with declared identities and peer-to-peer ratings. The name is a play on how chatty members are as per their profiles. When filling in their profile, members are asked to specify their level of chattiness on the scale “Bla”, “BlaBla” and “BlaBlaBla”, hence the name BlaBlaCar.

The brief for Chase India includes assessing and managing regulatory risks, identifying the relevant stakeholders and engaging with them, carrying out regulatory management and ideating agenda based advocacy campaigns.

The win follows a spate of recent wins for Chase India including briefs for a leading developer of mining shafts and a global leader in automotive interiors & battery manufacturing.

Raghav Gupta, India Country Manager, BlaBlaCar said, “We have offered the public affairs mandate to Chase India for their ability to engage with relevant stakeholders in ways that are both compelling and effective. We look forward to working with Chase India on delivering a successful advocacy and government relations campaign.”

Commenting on the latest win, Nitin Mantri, CEO, Avian Media & Director, Chase India said, “Through Chase India we aim to create effective platforms for facilitating interactions between government and industry to create and deliver strategies that provide clients with a sustainable competitive advantage. The deep understanding of business, politics and communications helps us devise compelling solutions that go beyond traditional communication models.”

“We at Chase India aim to strategically map the stakeholders and appropriately draw out advocacy campaigns to position BlaBlaCar as a responsible intercity ride sharing platform,” said Manash Neog, Head of Policy Advocacy & Public Affairs, Chase India.
