According to the survey, ‘PC World’ commands a 32 per cent market share

AC Nielsen has conducted a news-stand survey of the sales figures of leading IT magazines, for International Data Group, India, and has found that ‘PC World’ is India’s top selling IT magazine.

The survey examined the sales of other IT magazines such as ‘PC Quest’ and ‘Digit’, all of which had lower sales figures than ‘PC World’. As per the data, ‘PC World’ commands a market share of 32 per cent.

‘Digit’ came second with 29 per cent market share in the category, followed by ‘Intelligent Computing Chip’, which had an 18 per cent share. ‘PC Quest’ came in fourth with 14 per cent market share, while ‘Computer Active’ managed a 7 per cent share.

The survey was conducted in September 2006 and covered more than 250 major news-stands in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

‘PC World’ was launched in India in July 2006. N Bringi Dev, publisher, ‘PC World’, and president, IDG India, says about the quick popularity of the magazine: “We were confident of the success of ‘PC World’ in India as it has been well received in various other countries. We attribute this to the world class editorial resources and modern test centre that enable us to create reliable content for our readers.”

According to the IntelliQuest CIMS Spring 2006 survey, ‘PC World’ is the world’s largest selling IT magazine.

For the record, ‘PC World’ is published by the International Data Group (IDG), a leading technology media, events and research company, which publishes more than 300 magazines and newspapers in 85 countries.
