Sahara Samay readies itself for restructuring

Dhupar has been appointed branch head of Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh

After announcing the launch of an Urdu news channel and 10 new newspaper editions on March 1, Sahara Samay, a part of Sahara India Mass Communications, is all set to revamp the corporate structure of the channel.

Prabhat Dabral, head, Sahara Samay Rashtriya, says, “We at Sahara are trying to rejig our structure by employing channel heads in every state. This will help us to operate, market and reposition ourselves in a better way in the market.”

Dabral adds, “The brand heads in the different states will be responsible for brand development, revenue generation, marketing and establishing a corporate identity for the channels.”

In the first step to gain results, Anil Dhupar has been employed as brand head of the Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh channel. Dhupar quit the Indore based daily, ‘Nai Dunia’, last week, where he was working as CEO.

Dhupar had joined ‘Nai Dunia’ in September 2005. He says about his stint there: “I joined ‘Nai Dunia’ after working for 16 years with ‘Dainik Bhaskar’. Though it was a great experience, I’ve got another growth opportunity in ‘Sahara Samay’.” Dhupar will continue to operate from Indore.

On the greatest challenge he faced at ‘Nai Dunia’, Dhupar says, “My greatest feat was revamping the image of the traditional paper to a commercial and contemporary daily in Indore.”

Vineet Sethia, director, ‘Nai Dunia’, comments, “We had brought in Anil Dhupar to help in our expansion plans. But we are sure that Dhupar leaving us will not be a setback for us.” On the expansion plans, he says, “We will be launching the Raipur edition in July-August, and two-three other editions are also on the anvil.”

As to who will be the next CEO of ‘Nai Dunia’, Sethia says, “We are scouting for somebody who can take our plans forward. A decision on this will be taken within the next two weeks.”
