Suresh Bala replaces Upen Roop Rai as COO, Zoom

Rai has moved as director to the Times Group’s other divisions, IMSG and Indiatimes

Zoom, the lifestyle and glamour channel from the house of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, has effected another management restructuring. Suresh Bala will take over the responsibilities of COO of the channel from Upen Roop Rai.

Rai, who will now be director of the group’s other divisions, Integrated Marketing Solutions Group (IMSG) and Indiatimes, says, “It has been a year since I’ve been associated with Zoom. The association has brought personal growth to me as well as the channel.”

While Rai will move out of Zoom formally on June 1, Bala is expected to join the organisation within the next two weeks. At Zoom, Bala will report to Arun Arora, the executive president of BCCL.

Arun Arora did not want to comment on the recent development in the organisation. When the news became public on May 29, Bala was in Italy.

For the record, Bala has tried his hand at client servicing in Grey Worldwide (then Trikaya Grey), after which he moved to Channel [V] as general manager. After his stint at Channel [V], he headed for Canada. He returns to India now with his new assignment as COO for Zoom.
