Sunil Khanna quits Dish TV

Sunil Khanna, CEO, Dish TV has put in his papers.

The development will come as a surprise for many as in the last 15 months, Khanna had played a crucial role in building Dish TV from scratch. It was under his leadership that Dish TV has got around 1.3 million subscribers.

His exit comes at a time, when Dish TV is expected to get a great push especially after getting the STAR bouquet of channels on board. In fact, the direct to home television venture had recently beefed up its promotional campaigns.

However, the official version of the story is Khanna’s contract with ZEE, which was for two years, has come to an end. The official communiqué also said that the company was interested in renewing the contract, but Khanna had decided to move on and pursue other interests.

Khanna has been an old hand with the ZEE group. In fact, he started his career with Siticable. Then, he moved to ZEE Turner, the distribution arm of the ZEE group, where he was responsible for the pay TV business. Prior to joining Dish TV as the CEO, he has also worked as president, ZEE TV.
