Tabla maestro & #BANNER1 & # Ustaad Zakir Hussain has been the face of the Brooke Bond Taj Mahal Tea brand for close to 20 years. But now Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is replacing him as the new face of the tea brand.

However, this doesn't mean the end of the relationship between Hussain and Taj Mahal Tea. Hussain will extend his goodwill to it and be a silent brand ambassador for it.

Brooke Bond Taj Mahal Tea was relaunched in mid-2006 with new packaging and communication.

HLL plans to bring back the romance of tea with Khan as the brand ambassador. The tea industry is going through a challenging period at the moment, especially because of the changing lifestyle of the youth. The campaign launched by the Tea Board of India to promote tea validates this fact. With Khan as brand ambassador, Taj Mahal Tea probably hopes to get back these young consumers.

The official communiqué, however, offers a different reason. "Taj has always been associated with personalities of excellence. And Saif Ali Khan has certainly demonstrated the same in his last few performances. The National Award that he got is another recognition of his excellence in his field."

Taj Mahal Tea was the first brand to introduce tea bags with its famous 'Dip Dip Dip' campaign. It was also the first and, probably, the only branded tea to introduce vacuum packs, which lock in the aroma, to ensure that consumers got the unique Taj experience "garden-fresh".
