The food industry last week had numerous offers to
enliven the lives of homemakers. Baidyanath had a
healthy-wealthy offer for consumers. On buying
Baidyanath Chyawanprash Special and scratching the
card inside every 2 kg, 1 kg and 500 gm pack, the
buyer had the chance to win prizes like Maruti cars,
LML Trendy scooters, squeezies, Zoomer planes and
more. This promo is valid in select cities till March
5, 2001. In yet another offer, on the purchase of a
2-kg Baidyanath Chyawanprash Special pack, the
customer had the chance to win a cricket bat by
scratching the coupon available with it. This offer is
valid in select cities only and till stocks last.
Tata had a glittering offer for buyers. On returning
four empty packs of 1 kg Tata Salt the consumer had
the chance to win gold. The first prize was 1 kg of
gold. There were two second prizes - of 500 gm of gold
each, three third prizes of 250 gm of gold each and 10
fourth prizes of 100 gm of gold. This offer is valid
till February 28, 2001.
Parle in the 'gold hi gold jeeto hungama' was giving a
free gift on the purchase of every pack of Krackjack.
Along with this it had prizes worth Rs 1 crore, which
included gold bricks, gold biscuits, gold coins, 25
multimedia PCs, 10,000 watches and much more. This
promo is valid till stocks last. Britannia had the
'Britannia khao Sharjah chale aao' offer for cricket
enthusiasts. Fifty lucky winners were given tickets
for the India-Pakistan match. One could avail of this
offer by collecting Britannia wrappers worth Rs 20 and
completing a slogan. This offer is valid only in Delhi
and up to March 26, 2001.
On buying a 5 lt pack of Gemini refined sunflower oil
the buyer had the chance to get a Cello basin tub or a
Cello 16 lt bucket free. This offer is valid in select

the company was giving a Cello ornate table worth Rs

On buying the Utsav ice cream party pack of 1,000 ml
the customer had the chance to get a set of four

Maggi in the 'pickles happytimes' offer was giving a
15 gm sachet of Nescafe Sunrise coffee free with a 300
gm bottle of Maggi pickles. This offer is valid in
select cities only and till stocks last.
The household products marketers were not far behind.
Sleepwell had the 'Flexi Puf sure win' offer to allure
buyers. If a customer bought a Sleepwell mattress
he/she had the chance to win return tickets to
Singapore, Whirlpool refrigerators, BPL colour
televisions, Nokia mobile phones and cash prizes up to
Rs 1,000 win. This offer is valid only in Bangalore
till stocks last. Godrej in the 'Number One' offer was
giving up to Rs 1,111 off on the purchase of a Godrej
storwel. This offer is valid up to February 28, 2001.
Milton in the 'Garam-A-Garam' exchange offer was
giving a 35 per cent discount on a Milton Casserole or
a Tiffin box on exchange of any brand of thermoware
product, for a new Milton Casserole or Tiffin box.
This offer is only in Delhi and till stocks last.
Household durables marketers too had lots to offer.
Philips was giving consumers a chance to save Rs 200.
The buyer was expected to exchange an old iron for a
brand new Philips steam iron. This offer is valid in
Mumbai and Pune till February 28, 2001. In another
offer, on buying Philips HI 206 iron the buyer could
save Rs 150. This offer is valid only in Bangalore and
up to February 28, 2001.
The office stationary segment was a bit it dull in
terms of sales promotion activities. Compaq in the
Compaq Presario Super Six offer was offering amazing
gifts. On buying select products from Compaq, the
customer got a MyStyle Accent colour kit, Compaq
IJ1600 colour Inkjet Printer, ACCPAC finance and
accounting software from Computer Associates and a Web
Camera. This promo is valid in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon,
Faridabad, Bhopal, Jaipur, Dehradun, Moradabad and
Meerut and only till stocks last. On buying a Wipro
Dot Matrix Printer (DMP) and entering the Wipro DMP
Bonanza 2001 the buyer had the chance to win cell
phones, music systems, jewellery every week as well as
software worth as much as Rs 6,500 free. The grand
prize is a free trip to Singapore. This promo is valid
in Bangalore for a limited period only.
The automotive industry's drive was slower. Hyundai
had the Hyundai finance introductory offer for car
buyers. On the purchase of a Hyundai Santro or an
Accent the company was giving monthly instalments
starting from Rs 6,474 for a Santro and Rs 11,990 for
an Accent. This offer is valid only in Delhi till
February 26, 2001.
Offers in the garment industry were few and far
between. Indigo Nation was giving up to 50 per cent
off on Indigo Nation garments. This offer is valid
only in Delhi. Excalibur had a Triple Impact Offer for
its customers. On buying any two Excalibur shirts the
company was giving an Excalibur white shirt worth Rs
395 free. This promo is valid in select cities only
and till stocks last.
Some marketers were looking to cash in on the
Valentines Day fever. Times Classifieds, NOW ISP and
Archies Cards had a joint offer. On booking a
Valentine message at any of the Times Offices or
calling 011-6858140, the customer had the chance to
get an Archies audiocassette free. This offer is valid
in Delhi, Noida, Faridabad and Gurgaon. The Hindustan
Times, in its own way, was playing the cupid. The HT
City readers had the chance to win free movie tickets
for the Valentine Movie Festival. For further details
the readers had to look out for ads in HT City.
Among other interesting offers, Four Square Challenge
was giving a chance to win fabulous prizes. The prize
included entry into Team Four Square, a trip for two
to the event, adventure holidays for two and lots
more. For further details the entrant is expected to
fill up the Team Four Square selection forms and visit
any of the Four Square Challenge Zones in Delhi. This
offer is valid in Delhi only and up to February 15,
2001.
There were not too many offers from the marketers of
lifestyle products. Titan was giving up to 40 per cent
discount on a Titan watch. This offer is valid only in
select cities and till February 10, 2001. The lone
offer in personal care was from Laboratoires Garnier
which was giving a free Synergie gentle cleansing milk
worth Rs 52 with every jar of Synergie Wrinkle Lift.
