Sify integrates consumer businesses

Sify Limited has integrated www.sify.com, Sify i-Ways and Sify Broadband to Home into a single business unit

Sify Limited has merged its portal, cyber cafe and broadband services into a single business unit. Therefore, the division now comprises the www.sify.com portal with 520 million page views, the 3,500 Sify i-Way cyber cafes in 163 cities and Sify Broadband to Home in 221 cities.

Raju Vegesna, Chairman and CEO, Sify, said in a statement issued by the company on Tuesday, "This integration is a key step towards growing our consumer businesses, and gaining a larger share of the growing Indian market for the services we offer. This is much like our strategy of integrating our enterprise businesses to offer end-to-end managed services for companies in India and leverage the synergies across these businesses to accelerate growth."

In a re-organisation, Naresh Ajwani, president, Consumer Infrastructure & Operations, will lead the broadband and cyber cafes initiatives, while V Sivaramakrishnan, president, Consumer Marketing, will head the online content, e-commerce and marketing initiatives.

Consumer services contribute 32.6 per cent to Sify's revenues. The portals, including Sify's broadband portal SifyMax, contribute 3.1 per cent to the company's revenues. In the first quarter of 2007, Sify reported revenues of $34.6 million, 6.6 per cent higher than its revenues in the first quarter of 2006.
