Media Transasia prepares to deliver Child in India

Media Transasia announces the launch of Child, an English monthly magazine on parenting, in the Indian market

Media Transasia, publishers of Swagat, Discover India, Architecture & Design, Better Homes and Gardens, and Maxim in India, will unveil yet another brand now. Child, an English monthly magazine on parenting, is all set for a simultaneous launch across India’s key and mini metros this April.

Child is aimed at urban, professional and progressive dads and moms who are keenly involved in bringing up their children and want to raise happy, healthy kids.

Vatsala Kaul Banerjee has been roped in as the editor for Child. Banerjee says, “The dynamics of the parenting environment have been changing rapidly. Parenting matters much more than it ever did before and in many new ways. Child is a credible and friendly resource for today’s parents who want to enjoy parenting and make it a positive experience.”

Child is being brought out under licence from the Meredith Corporation of the US, which has brought out several magazine brands on parenting: Parents, American Baby and Child.

Rasina Uberoi, vice-president of Media Transasia, says, “Child has great potential in India. Regardless of where you live, the joys and anxieties of raising a child are universal. Child will be the magazine that Indian parents turn to when looking to find expert advice or to share their experiences.”

Child takes off with a countrywide promotion campaign called ‘That Special Something – Child Cover Hunt’, which is a fun search for children who could be the face of Child. There are five categories for the winners: Baby (birth-12 months), Toddler (12-24 months), Preschooler (3-5 years), Junior (6-8 years), and Pre-Teen (9-12 years). They entrants will be judged by a panel of distinguished parents.

Piyush Sharma, chief executive officer and publisher, Media Transasia, says, “The Cover Hunt is a special initiative by Child to create and share a very special platform with parents. Parents care deeply about their children, and the fact that their child can be on the cover of a magazine is a great opportunity generating unprecedented response.”
