Rohit Sarma joins Turner India as executive director

Sarma will lead advertising sales for Turner’s entertainment brands in India and South Asia. He will be based in Mumbai

Turner India has appointed Rohit Sarma executive director, network advertising sales, South Asia. The new appointment was necessitated by the elevation of Monica Tata as vice-president and deputy general manager, entertainment networks, South Asia.

Sarma will lead advertising sales for Turner’s entertainment brands in India and South Asia. The brands include Cartoon Network, Pogo, HBO and the soon to be launched English entertainment channel. He will be based in Mumbai.

In an official communiqué, Tata says, “We are happy to have Rohit on board as this is an exciting time at Turner, when we are in the process of strengthening ourselves and planning to expand aggressively.”

Sarma’s mandate at Turner is to develop innovative strategies for driving advertising sales revenues and maximise opportunities for Turner’s existing and future television and interactive properties in the South Asian region.

Before moving to Turner, Sarma was general manager, content and applications, retail business unit, at Tata Communications (formerly known as VSNL). He has 13 years of sales, marketing and general management experience stretching across industry verticals. He has worked with companies such as Guinness UDV/ Diageo, Sara Lee and ITC.
