The Dainik Bhaskar Group has appointed Vijay Singh associate vice-president, sales operations. Singh will be in charge of two publications, Dainik Bhaskar and Divya Bhaskar, and will report to Rajiv Jaitley, president, sales and marketing, Bhaskar Group.
Talking to afaqs!, Singh says, “With its expansion plans for new markets, the Bhaskar Group is definitely one of the most aggressive companies in the media space. My role will entail achieving the revenue targets of Dainik Bhaskar and Divya Bhaskar. Other focus areas will be to put a sales system and other processes in place to increase productivity, facilitate tapping of new clients and help us to offer 360-degree solutions to our associates.”
Singh has 18 years of experience in sales and marketing, having worked in sectors such as FMCG and media. Earlier, he was with Infomedia India for two years as regional head, North operations. From 1996 to 2006, he was with FMCG player PepsiCo India and moved out of the company as general manager, franchisee operations, Central India. During his tenure at PepsiCo, Singh was honoured with the President Ring of Honour in 2003, which is one of the most prestigious awards given by PepsiCo International.
He has also worked with Shriram Foods. On switching over from FMCG to media, Singh says, “Selling in the final analysis involves similar skill sets and expertise – whether you are selling a cold drink or a newspaper to the consumer. However, exposure to different fields surely translates into new challenges and learning.”
