Web18 appoints Simran Sablok as general manager, marketing

Web18, the new media arm of Network 18, has appointed Simran Sablok as general manager of marketing. Prior to this, she was the head of marketing at Levi Strauss Signature (LSS). She will report to Surya Mantha, the chief executive officer of Web18.

Speaking to afaqs!, Sablok says, "I will be responsible to create a strong, consumer insight driven marketing strategy that will convert our digital properties into great consumer brands."

She adds, "To begin with, we will focus our marketing efforts on four digital properties -- In.com, Moneycontrol.com, IBNLive.com and CricketNext.com. Apart from online marketing, we may use above-the-line (ATL), below-the-line (BTL) and opt for alliances to create strong brand presence for Web 18 properties."

Sablok has more than 12 years of experience in marketing, in the hospitality and apparel industries. She started her career in 1997 as a management trainee with Lintas and worked there for two years. Thereafter, she moved to Pizza Hut as marketing associate and later joined KFC as senior brand manager. She was part of the team which re-launched the KFC brand in India.

In 2006, Sablok joined Café Coffee Day as general manager - marketing and helped the company to boost its visibility by establishing tie-ups with various brands. At LSS, her mandate was to build a strong brand presence, apart from increasing footfalls at various Levi Strauss stores.
