Bright Outdoor bags BEST bus tender worth upwards of Rs 123 crore

The company has won the rights for three years - 2010-13 - for about 4050 buses in all

Bright Outdoor has won the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking) tender for advertising rights on single and double-decker buses. Established in 1873, BEST operates one of India's largest fleet of buses.

BEST had announced the tender in October 2009. The results have been announced now, though it was previously scheduled for Nov 11.

Sudesh Paul, manager, business development, Bright Outdoor, confirms the news to afaqs!, saying, "The company has won the tender with a total bid amount of Rs 123.10 crore." He shares that this gives the company rights to more than 4000 single-decker and more than 50 double-decker buses travelling the length and breadth of the city.

Prior to this development, Pioneer Publicity owned the ad rights to the buses. Bright Outdoor has been eyeing this property for about nine years and hopes to market it to more than 600 clients.

The company shares that apart from Bright Outdoor, Pioneer Publicity, Jagran Engage, Gold Mine Advertising, Sambhaav Media and Rajdeep Buildcon had participated in the bid. One of the eligibility criteria was that the firms participating in the bid should have an annual turnover of Rs 25 crore or more for the last three financial years.

Bright commenced business in 1980 as an outdoor media company and offers railway boards, railway panels, transfer stickers, cinema slides, promos, full train, bus panels, full bus painting, mobile sign truck, kiosks, traffic booth, toll naka, gantry and vinyl screens spread across the length and breadth of Mumbai.

It owns 700 exclusive hoardings in Mumbai Metropolis, at points such as Haji Ali, Bandra, Churchgate, Mahim, Cadel Road, Marine Drive, Worli, Borivili, Juhu, SV Road, Link Road, Chembur and Sion. The company has branches in Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
