MSRTC invites tender bids for ad rights on its AC buses

Close to 7,000 passengers commute by these buses daily

Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has invited tender bids from agencies for displaying advertisements on the windows of its air-conditioned buses, for a period of three years.

Currently, MSRTC has AC buses on nine routes, including Dadar-Pune, Thane-Pune, Aurangabad-Pune, Shirdi-Borivali and Swargate-Borivali. Close to 7,000 passengers commute by these buses daily. Moreover, the number of buses offered for ad display can be changed.

The agencies will be allowed to use only see-through vinyl for displaying advertisements. While paint was used for this purpose earlier, today, adhesive vinyl has emerged as a cost-effective and time-saving branding solution.

To be eligible for the contract, interested parties must have relevant professional experience, along with sufficient exposure. Also, they should have their own registered office.

A senior media planner observes that bus advertising is being done very innovatively in West Asia, Southeast Asia and London. "The format has immense scope for growth here in India; and it will work in favour of telecom and FMCG brands," he adds.

The last date for submission of the tender documents is June 16.
