In 6 months, Sahara One's new CEO Avinash Kaul calls it a day

Kaul held charge at Sahara One since February 2010

Avinash Kaul, chief executive officer, Sahara One Media and Entertainment is no longer with the company, yesterday being his last day there. Kaul had joined Sahara One in February this year from NDTV Media.

Despite repeated attempts, Kaul could not be reached for comment, while officials at the channel remained tight-lipped about the development. However, sources within the company have confirmed his exit, the reasons for which could not be ascertained.

Kaul had been working with the company closely since his NDTV Media days, while looking after its ad sales. At Sahara One, he was in charge of all the broadcast channels -- Sahara One, Filmy and Firangi. A few months ago, he attempted to turn-around Sahara One by launching two new shows.

Prior to Sahara One, he was executive vice-president at NDTV Media, where he worked for seven-and-a-half years, ever since the company's inception. He has also spent a year at STAR India, where he headed the Strategic Planning division for STAR India channels. In his career spanning 12 years, he has also worked with Discovery Communications and Mindshare.

Kaul had stepped into Sharmistha Rijhwani's shoes, who quit in May 2008. Rijhwani, in turn, had joined the channel in September 2007, in place of Shantanu Adiya who served as CEO for about two years.
