STAR Network's Kannada general entertainment channel, Suvarna TV, has roped in Vinod J Nathan as national sales head. Nathan will be responsible for the entire sales function of Suvarna TV and the regional heads of the channel will report to him. It is a newly created position.
Based in Bengaluru, Nathan will report Anup Chandrashekharan, business head, Suvarna TV. Earlier, Nathan was director, client leadership, GroupM Media (Mindshare).
"As a planner, I always admired brand Suvarna for its sheer content value and innovations that have been raising the bar with every new launch. I have been closely watching the channel for some time now. I am glad to join the core team," says Nathan.
Nathan has 14 years of experience in media planning and media sales. He started his career with the Times Group (Times Publishing House) and was with the group for about eight years, after which he moved to Zee Telefilms in 2003. Later, he moved to Mindshare in 2006, where he worked on some of the leading brands including IBM, United Spirits and Landmark Group, among others.
Nathan holds a post graduate degree in marketing and broadcast management.
In an official communiqué, Anup Chandrashekharan, business head, Suvarna TV, says, "Suvarna has been on a rapid growth path in the last one year, with more than 100 per cent growth and sales is one of the key areas at this junction. We found the right person in Vinod as he has the expertise and experience in both media planning and media sales."
