RK Swamy Chennai wins retail brand Vivek

It has been learnt that the creative pitch for Vivek Limited has come to a conclusion. The creative mandate has been awarded to R K Swamy BBDO.

Although the agency professionals and the Vivek marketing team were unavailable for comment on the development, confirmation on the account movement has been obtained from senior level authorities on both fronts.

The two main brands under the umbrella of this professionally managed public limited company are Viveks and Jainson. The creative duties for both brands were reviewed in this pitch. It is learnt, that in the past, around 70 per cent of the company's advertising spends were allotted to brand Viveks, while the remainder was utilised to promote brand Jainson.

Previously, the creative mandate for this account has been with Ogilvy India's Chennai branch. Until now, the agency's prime mandate had been to handle brand Viveks, although the team did work on brand Jainson, intermittently.

Currently positioned as 'The Unlimited Shop', Vivek Limited has stores in several cities including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli and Thirunelvelli.

The media agency of record on the Vivek account is Mindshare; the agency has been handling both Viveks, as well as Jainson.

Notably, Vivek Limited has two group companies, Vivek Lockers and Vivek Agencies. The former is a high safety vault facility in Chennai (launched in Mylapore in 1993, and in Nanganallur in 2002), while the latter is a distribution firm set up in 1976. Starting with the distribution of Sumeet Mixers, the company has, since then, added a variety of products to its distribution portfolio.

How R K Swamy BBDO now plans to take the creative mandate for Vivek Limited ahead remains to be seen.
