Zee TV, Sony witness GRP upswing

While for Zee the push has primarily come from the shows Ram Milayi Jodi and Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli, the Boroplus Gold Awards 2011 contributed significantly to the channel's GRPs.

For the week ended July 23, it's Zee TV and Sony Entertainment, the third and fourth players in the top GEC bracket, which have witnessed GRP upswings.

While Zee TV at No. 3, has moved 35 points up the ladder to register 220 GRPs, Sony, standing at the fourth position, has added 11 points to its kitty, to end the week with 193 GRPS. Zee's relative share has also moved up from 14.6 per cent to 17 per cent, while Sony's relative share is 14.9 per cent (14.3 per cent in the previous week).

While for Zee the push has primarily come from the shows Ram Milayi Jodi and Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli, the Boroplus Gold Awards 2011, aired on Sunday at 8 pm, delivered a TVR of 3.5. The event contributed approximately 23 GRPs to the channel.

Evidently for Sony, the win has come with its latest show, Bade Achche Lagte Hai.

Star Plus, meanwhile, continues to lead the flock with 316 GRPs in its pocket. It has however lost 4 GRPs in Week 30, while its channel share has dropped from 25.3 per cent to 24.3 per cent.

Colors, at No. 2, has witnessed a 4-point drop during the week to close its grade with 267 GRPs. Its relative share has slid to 20.6 per cent from 21.4 per cent that it had registered in Week 29.

Sony's sibling channel SAB TV has lost 9 points during the week to garner 124 GRPs. Its relative share is also down from 10.5 per cent to 9.5 per cent.

At No. 6, Imagine TV is one point up the ladder, to score 66 GRPs. Its relative share is, however, stable at 5.1 per cent. STAR One, with 36 GRPs and a channel share of 2.8 per cent, follows it.

Sahara One is at No. 8. The channel's relative share and GRPs have moved up marginally to 2.5 per cent (2.4 per cent in the previous week) and 33 GRPs (31 GRPs in the previous week), respectively.

STAR Utsav and DD1 have garnered relative shares of 1.8 per cent and 1.3 per cent, respectively.

Balika Vadhu (Colors) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 6.2, followed by Pavitra Rishta (Zee TV) and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (Star Plus) with TVRs of 5.46 and 5.19, respectively.

The fourth most-watched programme is Uttaran, with 5.11 TVR. Pratigya (4.72 TVR) and Saathiya Saath Nibhana (4.42 TVR) follow next. Ram Milayi Jodi, Bade Achche Lagte Hai, Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah are also a part of the Top 10 list.
