Everest Brand Solutions has roped in Meraj Hasan as vice-president, strategic planning. Hasan comes in from Lowe Lintas, Mumbai, where he was heading planning for the oral care business of Hindustan Unilever (namely Pepsodent and Close Up) for India and Southeast Asia. He also led the strategic planning on Idea Cellular.

On his appointment at Everest, Hasan comments, "The decision to join Everest happened over a series of conversations with Dhunji Wadia and Rahul Jauhari, trying to understand their approach towards work and the agency. Their idea of working in a close-knit environment, to build strong brands by doing some robust and interesting work, drew me in."

He adds that he hopes to partner the team at Everest in doing some good work, by instilling a strong culture of consumer and brand planning.

Hasan brings with him 11 years of experience across India and Sri Lanka. Prior to Lowe, he was strategic planning head at Rediffusion-Y&R. He was also actively involved in the launch of Bharti Airtel's telecom operations in Sri Lanka.

In his other assignments, he has worked on brands such as Colgate-Palmolive, Tata Sky, Tata Motors, Standard Chartered Bank, and Mahindra & Mahindra. He is an alumnus of the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), with interests such as writing poetry, making music, and photography.
