Orchard gets Meridian's Partha Sarkar as vice-president, client servicing and planning

Sarkar will handle brands such as Godrej Consumer Products, Piramal Healthcare, Viacom 18, and Dwarka Milk.

Orchard Advertising has recently roped in Partha Sarkar as vice-president, client servicing and planning. He will head the agency's Mumbai branch. Sarkar, who came on board on November 8, will report to Kaushik Mitra, senior vice-president, Orchard Advertising India.

Sarkar moves in from Meridian Communications Mumbai, Ogilvy India's second agency, where he was vice-president, account management. He replaces Rajiv Viswanathan, who held this position until August.

In his new role, Sarkar's main responsibility will be to handle the existing organic business on the agency's key accounts including Godrej Consumer Products, Piramal Healthcare, Viacom 18, and the recently-acquired Dwarka Milk, amongst several others.

Sarkar expresses his excitement to work with Orchard's Mumbai team. He says, "It has been a great start here. I look forward to take Orchard Mumbai to the next level in terms of client growth and some great creative work."

According to Mitra, Sarkar will have a key role to play in Orchard's growth strategy for 2012. "Sarkar brings in sound and analytical business sense. He is a team player, is excellent on client relationships, and has a keen understanding of the creative side, which helps build connect with the consumers," he tells afaqs!.

Sarkar, an automobile engineer, brings to the table 13 years of experience in advertising. He has worked across product categories at several agencies. His most recent assignments were at Mudra, Rediffusion-Y&R, and Meridian.

Sarkar has been associated with brands such as Philips, ITC Personal Care, Perfetti, Mont Blanc, Axis Bank, Reliance Infocomm, Tata Motors, Rasna, Franklin Templeton, Nutrela, Kaya Skin Clinic, and Lux Innerwear.
